Restaurants that are vegan friendly round the world
It would be great to share restaurants in London (and elsewhere!) that are vegan friendly.
Mum and I love inspiral in Camden which has an amazing selection of hot and cold vegan and vegetarian food. It has also started a range of raw products which are delicious and good to have in your bag as a snack when you're out and about. There's live music some nights too. Lovely view of the canal. You can't book which is a slight downside if you're going with more than one other person.
I recently went to My Village which is also in Camden just five minutes from inspiral. I had a lovely evening with my godparents and godsister. It's run but a really lovely man who made us feel really welcome and was super helpful with telling us what food was vegan and wheat free.
If anyone else has any other recommendations it would be great up hear them.

Re: Restaurants that are vegan friendly-spreading the word..
Thanks so much for these London suggestions-hopefully over time we will have places in other parts of England and in other countries round the world
--I have some New York recommendations which I'll post later--also we now have people in different countries online here--so how about Spain, New Zealand,California, as well North of England etc??? This resource will be so valuable for us all when travelling too....New York was vegan heaven, with even vegan food trucks on the street--

This vegetarian and vegan restaurant was once a squat, and is now cooperatively run. The dish prices are very affordable, at £3 for starters and desserts and £7 for mains. 'The Caff' is unlicensed and there's no corkage charge, so you can always BYO and eat on a budget.

Hackney - East London: A good sector I think to fresh food that qualifies as vegan are the many Turkish cafes in Hackney. The original Mangal cafe in Arcola St is one I've used for years. Even as a non meat eater, its good (if you don't mind the meat cooking the background) for excellent fresh salads, hummus and flatbreads - if you say you want these as a main meal not as starters they'll provide a really appetising plate,
especially at lunchtimes (or less busy times - it is very popular in the evenings and especially weekends). http://www.mangal1.com/contact.htm
Other cafes do lovely spinach flatbread pancakes and things like that (not the Mangal).

Re: No saga being a vegan at Sagar!!!
Sagar South Indian restaurant in London's Hammersmith has not only a gluten free menu but a vegan menu--makes one feel far more 'acceptable' and I go there quite often-it's beginning to feel like a sort of home! http://www.sagarveg.co.uk/ The dhosas are spectacular--staff v friendly,(when I took a young friend there for her birthday they brought to the table, totally unasked, an ice cream with a lighted candle in it, and everyone in the restaurant, staff & customers, sang Happy Birthday..) prices v reasonable...

Re: New York is Vegan Heaven....
On my visit I found some great places-- there's the Blossom chain :there are 3 of these, one on Columbus, one on Carmine, one on 9th Avenue http://www.blossomnyc.com/
Then at the top end of the market there is Candle 79- http://www.candle79.com/- they call themselves 'a vegan oasis'--pricey but great combinations of food-we were there the night Lou Reed died and my fellow diners all shared a Lou Reed cocktail in his memory-and there is a wonderful shop selling wraps of everything you could think of, called Organic Avenue on Upper West Side http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/organic-avenue-new-york-4 --I ate my Organic Avenue wrap filled with truly yummy veg on a sunny bench on the High Line--there may be many more and my friend had sent me a picture of a vegan food roadside truck-but I didn't see one of those--please add more that you know of...makes all our vegan lives easier..

Gaia Bio - Largo G. Cencetti, 13 Rome
http://www.gaiabio.it
This is a lovely small organic and vegan-friendly restaurant outside the centre of Rome, north of St. Peter's. The owners are dedicated to a macrobiotic lifestyle, limiting animal protein as much as possible in their menu, use only vegetables from nearby organic farms and serve their own sourdough bread and pizza. For any Italian speakers, their website is full of interesting articles on healthy eating. The walls of the restaurant host art exhibitions reflecting the owners' other passion in life: painting.
Well worth a visit, I recommend their vegetable cous cous!

Re: Restaurants that are vegan friendly
I've been visiting this great Indian restaurant Leicester for quite some time now and each time I go I'm always so impressed with the quality and variety of dishes which are predominantly vegetarian/vegan.
I would highly recommend this to anyone in the area who has a strict vegetarian/vegan diet - http://feastindia.co.uk/index.php
